It lists the long-suspected date of her birth as 1883, not the now-documented date of 1891. The best bet for the new listener is "Midnight Special,"which includes several of Leadbelly's best-known songs and incredible performances captured in 1934 by the Lomaxes. Then again, at this time, there was no such thing as a blues singer.
